In the 1950s, the growing University of Barcelona moved most of its academic buildings to the area, but the neighborhood is hardly a “college town,” as it remains one of the city’s most exclusive residential areas. Worth the visit, is the Pedralbes Monastery which dates back to the 14th century with its Gothic style architecture and an inner courtyard containing with a beautiful Renaissance garden.
