The awesome nightlife of Barcelona

Experiencing the nightlife in Barcelona is on your to do list. Barcelona’s nightlife is famous for being one of the best in the world. With countless clubs and discos, not to mention bars that occupy most of the space on the city blocks, Barcelona has something for everyone. One thing that is important to keep in mind is that the nights begin late and end early, early in the morning that is.

A typical weekend night begins with dinner at around 11:30pm lasting until 1am or so. From dinner you’ll make your way to a bar or someone’s home for drinks until 2:30 am. If you’re looking for a disco before 2:30am you might find yourself solo because they really don’t start to fill up until at least 2:30am.

If you don’t happen to be in Barcelona over a weekend, have no fear! You will also be able to encounter a raging nightlife pretty much any night of the week. Many clubs have special Sunday night parties; check ahead to find out what kind of music will be spun as they tend to offer something different on Sundays.

Here in Barcelona, many clubs have VIP lists but don’t worry, if you’re not on the list you will still be granted entrance to the club but you will pay a cover. One way in which you can avoid an expensive cover is to head to one of the many popular new fusion restaurant-clubs. Restaurants convert to clubs after dinner hours are not permitted to charge covers. Drinks tend to be pricier than at bars. Also, check entrance tables in restaurants and shops for discount entrance cards for clubs.

You will almost always be admitted to bars and discos but it is important to be dressed appropriately, that generally excludes sneakers and day wear and it can also be common to wait in a line before entering.

If you stick to the many bars that the city has to offer, you will find yourself with many options. El Raval and El Borne are full of small hip bars, though you can find this type in just about any part of the city. Bars tend to close earlier than discos, usually around 2:30am.
