Find the best beach in Barcelona for the weekend

It is not difficult to find something to do on one of those sunny weekends in Barcelona.
Wherever you are in the city it won’t be too far away from some interesting architecture, a new exhibition, a great café or not even to the beach.
The quickest way to get to one of Barcelona’s beaches is to board the yellow metro line L4 or the T5 tram line, depending on which beach you intend to spend the day at.

All this sounds great and all, but yes… how do you choose the best beach?

Barceloneta Beach is surely one of the most famous since it is the closest one to the city center. It is always nice to stay around here and sunbath, people-watch, walk or have a drink or and iced coffee at a chiringuito.

Another very famous beach is the Icaria Beach. It is situated in the Vila Olimpica’s zone. This part of the sea-side is the most populated by bars, little shops and restaurants. It is also the beach where some of the best clubs are situated so, during the day, get used to find the people you met the night before at the party.

If you’re looking for a less crowded and more relaxing beach day consider a little trip just out of the city. Spending less than one hour by train you can get almost to all the parts of Costa Brava. Keep in mind Calella, Arenys and Malgrat de Mar where the water is unbelievable clean, and consider Lloret de Mar if you’re planning to stay for a party during the night!
