Prepare your fresh drinks and clean up your terrace – if you have one

The sky is preparing one of the most wonderful shows for European people and, of course, people in Barcelona are not going to miss it.

A partial lunar eclipse will take place on August 16, 2008, and it will be the second in 2008. Just a part of Europe and Africa will see the entire eclipse, while the poor asians and americans will have to wait next total lunar eclipse that will occur on December 21, 2010.

Greatest eclipse takes place at 21:10:06 GMT, and since in Bcn we are GMT+1 we will see it few minutes after 10pm.

The Moon’s trajectory takes it through the northern umbral shadow, resulting in a partial eclipse that lasts 3 hours 8 minutes.

WHERE TO SEE IT:
If you don’t have a nice terrace where to see it with your friends maybe it could be nice to go and see it at the Fabra’s Observatory at 415 m of altitude up to Collserrola. Its main activity is still the study of asteroids and comets and it’s the fourth most ancient observatory in the world that is still functioning.
