Basketball at the Olympic and Sports Museum

basketball-blackForgive my ignorance, but I never knew basketball was so big in Spain, or Europe.

Before I came to Barcelona, I knew about FC Barcelona and all that jazz. But basketball is apparently also quite a thing over here too!

If you, like me, think you could do with learning a bit about the sport, the Olympic and Sport Museum on Montjüic has an exhibition on the glories of basketball in Europe over the last 50 years. It is a display of 160 photographs and documents that captures many of the highlights of the sport’s history in Europe.

The exhibition is open until February 20th. The permanent in the museum is also a worthwhile visit with great displays on both the history of sport and the Olympics (naturally!)

The Olympic and Sports Museum is open from 10am to 6pm Tuesdays to Saturdays, and 10am to 2.30pm Sundays and public holidays.

You can get to the museum which is beside the Olympic Stadium by taking the no 55 bus, or the Metro to Plaza Espanya.basketball
