Flamenco in Barcelona

Flamenco isn’t really the thing of Barcelona, or Catalonia, is it??! It’s more typical in Andalucía, but you can find great flamenco concerts every now and then in Barcelona!

During this spring a Flamenco festival is taking part in the city, “El Festival Flamenco de Barcelona de Cajón!”. It’s a series of concerts held in various areas in the city, on different days until April.

This folk art has been influenced by the cultures of the gypsies, the Moors or Arabs, the Jews and the indigenous Andalucians. It’s characterised by singing, dancing, guitar and rhythmic punctuation, mostly handclaps. There are several different styles of forms and styles of flamenco, eg. gypsy, andalusian and latin-american influenced. It’s worth to visit a concert at least once 🙂
